Prof : Peter Alberg STILL LIFE is a book that looks at human life through the structure of a still life composition. Traditionally still life paintings arrange ordinary objects such as clocks fruit flowers and rooms to reflect time mortality and the quiet presence of living. In this book those objects are reimagined as metaphors for human experience.

Each chapter centers on a fundamental element of life time the body nature love and home pairing literary excerpts with carefully curated images from photography painting and illustration. The book moves slowly allowing text and image to coexist with silence and space much like a still life painting itself.

Rather than offering conclusions or definitions STILL LIFE invites the reader to pause observe and recognize fragments of their own life within these arrangements. It is a quiet archive of human presence still yet undeniably alive.
